Most VLD or Hybrid bullets have a much longer nosepiece profile than the classic HPBT bullets, which means that with dies fitted with the traditional seating stem the tip contacts the high portion. With this seating stem/drift, on the other hand, it is properly retained about halfway down the nosepiece. Thanks to this specific seating stem, VLD or Hybrid bullets will find the correct seating to be properly inserted into the case.
