The ELD® Match (Extremely Low Drag Match) products are technologically advanced products with particularly high precision, Dotted with Heat Shield® pellets with a perfect apical profile, they are combined with numerous design features that enable them to achieve the highest ballistic coefficients in their class, higher precision and greater cost efficiency between pellet and pellet and between pellet and pellet. All manufacturers' conventional polymer tips melt during flight. During testing of what would become the ELD-X fighter projectile, Hornady® engineers, using Doppler radar, discovered that all the materials in which the tips of high ballistic coefficient tapered projectiles are made melt during flight and deform, decreasing the ballistic coefficient and degrading precision particularly at longer ranges (over 365 m). To mitigate this effect, Hornady® identified a heat-resistant polymer and developed the patented Heat Shield® tip. This revolutionary tip creates the perfect apex for the bullet. This revolutionary technology has enabled us to create the most advanced match on the market, the ELD® Match. With the ELD® Match bullet, superior accuracy and industry-leading ballistic design have been achieved. The secant ogive and tapered tail, in combination with the patented Heat Shield® tip, result in a bullet with the highest possible ballistic coefficient in its class. Verified with Doppler radar, the ballistic coefficient of ELD® Match bullets does not change during flight, thanks to the structural integrity of the Heat Shield® tip. The projectile has outstanding performance consistency, with no degradation in ballistic coefficient at long distances.
