The Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX is an extremely compact and lightweight (199 grams), robust and ergonomic rangefinder with 7x24 high-definition lenses. It offers the same level of accuracy as the CRF PRO (if the CRF PRO is upgraded to the optional Applied Ballistics® ELITE license level), which we recommend for the most demanding hunters. However, it is more suited to the extreme shooter due to its matrix display rather than single-digit display and the shot probability analysis function that calculates the probability of success for each shot.
The rangefinder's range-measuring system updates all possible records and is the most complete and refined ballistic computer available in compact rangefinders: it measures linear and angle-compensated distances literally in real time up to 2 km, and in 1.2" up to 3.4 km. It also detects atmospheric pressure and temperature, merging them with the parameters you specify in your CRF MAX settings. This displays, in a fraction of a second, the angle-compensated distance, the clicks for the vertical or horizontal ballistic turret of any riflescope, the compass, and the wind direction on the rangefinder display; a single or up to four data points at once. The data display is a razor-sharp microLED matrix. Immediately after the measurement, double-pressing the secondary CRF button simultaneously reads the angle, altitude (atmospheric pressure), temperature, bullet velocity at impact, energy, and time of flight of the projectile to the target.
The CRF MAX can be configured on the instrument itself or, very simply, on the free LEICA BALLISTICS app in Italian, which you can download to your smartphone. Extremely simple for those interested in measuring angle-compensated range, it allows for different levels of complexity depending on your accuracy needs, thanks to the ELITE version of the Applied Ballistics license, the most advanced, considering crucial parameters for extreme shooting and never before considered in a rangefinder. You can save up to 15 profiles for your guns/bullets/optics, and before going hunting, connect the CRF MAX via Bluetooth to automatically transfer the settings and then the ballistic profile of the rifle chosen for the day, without having to touch anything in the CRF MAX menu.
Exclusive to the CRF MAX (and the Geovid PRO 10×42 AB+ binorangefinder), Shot Probability Analysis combines current environmental conditions with user-entered parameters to calculate the expected probability of success for a hypothetical shot. This feature cannot be achieved by upgrading the app with the Elite license on the CRF PRO.
After the shot, the new Leica Pro Track function transfers the distance measurement from the point of impact to the Leica Ballistics app on your smartphone, which processes it and transforms it into directions to the point of impact on Google Maps or the fantastic American hunting mapping app Basemap (currently only for iPhone), or even on a simple arrow navigation system that works even without a cell phone signal. A dream come true for many hunters.

The CRF MAX provides clicks for the riflescope's ballistic turret, both for elevation and windage, with 5 different units of measurement (1/4, 1/3, 1MOA, 10mm, and 5mm per click at 100m), compensated for angle of view, temperature, and atmospheric pressure, up to 3,400 meters. The compensation takes every parameter into account, including, for example, the effect of the Earth's rotation. It is certainly the most precise compensation available on the civilian market.
Easy to use: the shooting information and ballistic curve are set on the app, which is instantly absorbed via Bluetooth by the CRF MAX, which is then ready to measure according to the desired modes without the need for further action. Whether hunting or shooting, simply press the measurement button and, if set in the app, you'll have the correct number of clicks to adjust your riflescope's turret based on distance, angle, zeroing altitude compared to the current measurement altitude, temperature, bullet curve, rotation of the Earth's axis, spin drift, and other parameters that are crucial for long-range shooting.

Thanks to the Leica Ballistics app and the latest-generation Bluetooth® interface, the CRF MAX connects to your smartphone and other instruments to offer various functions, including guiding the hunter precisely to the point of impact, or anschuss, after the shot. The CRF MAX thus fulfills a hunter's dream, with the LPT™ (Leica ProTrack) GPS tracking function, included in the app. This works in conjunction with Google Maps or Base Map (Base Map for iPhone only) if your smartphone has a cell phone signal (or if you've previously downloaded maps from Google Maps or Base Map). Otherwise, it uses a directional arrow on the app using the distance measured by the instrument, even without a cell phone signal.

It's extremely precise because it relies entirely on the most comprehensive version of the American Applied Ballistics® software, the "bible" for shooters around the world, the Elite® version of which is included as standard in the Leica Ballistics app.
Designed to give hunters and shooters maximum precision for extreme ranges, the CRF MAX provides linear and angle-compensated distance readings, as well as clicks for the vertical and horizontal ballistic turrets up to 3,400 meters, at the touch of a button. It's incredibly simple. The correction data needed for accurate shooting is displayed on the display as soon as the measurement is taken.
You can also enter wind direction and speed data into the CRF MAX manually (by pressing the button furthest from the CRF MAX eyepiece) or via the Leica Ballistics app, even by connecting to a weather station. This allows the CRF MAX display to display not only vertical clicks for elevation to compensate for bullet drop, but also horizontal clicks for windage to compensate for wind impact.
The Exclusive Refinements of the CRF MAX
By double-pressing the button furthest from the eye after a measurement, the CRF MAX displays the angle of view, atmospheric pressure (altitude), and temperature SIMULTANEOUSLY on the screen, like its CRF PRO counterparts. It also displays the residual velocity of the bullet on the target (t.velocity), the projectile energy, and the time it takes for the bullet to reach the target (TOF).
The Leica Ballistics app on the CRF MAX also offers unique customizations exclusively available on this model.
1. The choice of which and how much information appears on the display (described above).
2. The choice of crosshair shape (circle, square, or crosshair).
3. The choice of range acquisition mode based on the target position (first-best-last). Primo is used on small targets at medium ranges with a large background, such as a deer near the edge of the forest at close range. Best is used for clear targets, without any surrounding noise. Last is selected when the target is cluttered with other objects, such as a deer in tall grass. The selected mode always appears at the bottom of the screen.
4. The maximum operating distance is extended from 2km to 3.4km, for virtually real-time measurements in the first case.
5. The ability to activate power saving mode, which turns the CRF MAX off and on based on its inclination.
6. 5 brightness levels, up to very high, for operation even on bright, sunlit backgrounds.
All of these settings can also be modified directly from the CRF MAX's drop-down menu (where Bluetooth is also on/off), without needing to use the app. In practice, if desired, you can limit the app to just the ballistic profiles and point-of-impact guidance.
