The brass cartridge case is a really important component, and sometimes some key details are overlooked, such as the vamp hole or the primer seat. In industrial production manufacturing, the vamp hole is very often 'pushed back' into the brass itself that makes up the case. This is because it is the fastest and least expensive method, but it has significant shortcomings and inconsistencies. The resulting vamp hole, therefore, can be of a variety of sizes and shapes.
