Deutsche Werke, initially based in Berlin and later in Erfurt, produced the Ortgies pistols designed by Heinrich Ortgies. Available in .25 ACP, .32 ACP, and .380 ACP calibers, these pistols are recognized for their blowback operation and screwless design, using a spring-loaded fastener system for the grip panels. The Ortgies pistols were produced in large quantities and gained popularity in civilian markets and shooting competitions. Distinctive features included the "Ortgies' Patent" mark and a brass insert with the "HO" logo or a crouching cat. Although no longer in production, Ortgies pistols remain popular among collectors for their simplicity, reliability, and elegant design.
