All currently marketed chronographs use optical-type sensors. The MagnetoSpeed, on the other hand, uses electromagnetic sensors to detect the presence and passage of the bullet.

These sensors are immune to the disturbance caused by firing, which allows the sensors to be mounted close to the muzzle of the weapon.

As an added advantage, these sensors are immune to light problems such as neon lights, scarcity of natural light, too much sun, etc.... Our method is unique: it determines velocity by detecting the time difference between a slight disturbance of the two magnetic fields as the bullet passes through.
