Rock Island Armory, a division of the Arms Corporation of the Philippines (Armscor), was founded in 1985 when Armscor acquired the brand. The company traces its roots back to the early 1900s as a sporting goods store in the Philippines. During World War II, the company adapted to producing clothing and other goods to survive the Japanese occupation. Post-war, it focused on manufacturing firearms and ammunition, becoming especially known for its M1911 pistols. These pistols, built with 4140 steel and rigorously tested, have become a benchmark in the market due to their quality and affordability.
